ST AMBROSE COLLEGE USIEFRUN CELEBRATES CULTURAL DIVERSITY

St. Ambrose College, Usiefrun marked her Cultural Day Celebration on Friday 11th March, 2022. The event which was tagged “UNITY IN CULTURAL DIVERSITY” was well attended by parents and invited Dignitaries from far and near. The Chairman of the day was Hon. Chief Justice Marshal Umukoro (Chief Justice of Delta State (Rtd) Life Bencher) well represented by Chief Francis Adjeke. The Royal Father of the Day was H.R.M Matthew Edirin Egbi Ohwahwa the 1 (The Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom). Other dignitaries in attendance were Hon. Victoria Jowah (Deputy Chairman Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State), Chief (Mrs. Ofuyovwi Juliet) Chief Inspector for Education (C.I.E) Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, amongst others.
The event started the Celebration of the Holy Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Usiefrun at 10.00a.m. thereafter, Students and parents gorgeously dressed in their different cultural attire, showing the rich cultural heritage of the Nation, had a procession back to the school premises to continue with the other phase of the event. This year’s event also showcased the cultural riches of the Zulu tribe from South Africa. Cultural parade was done by the different groups, to greet and welcome all invited guests and parents to the event. The groups also talked briefly about their culture, presenting dishes perculiar to the culture represented. There was presentation of kolanut done by one of the Students Master Julius Okeoghene Precious which won the praises and appreciation of the elders and chiefs in attendance.
The highpoint of the event was the cultural dance presentation by the different cultural groups, with each group putting up their best performance aimed at outdoing the groups before them. trophies were presented to the group with the best cultural costumes and also to the group with the best cultural dance presentation. The Ijaw cultural group won the trophy for the best cultural costumes while the Urhobo cultural group got the trophy for the best cultural dance presentation.
It was a successfully celebration greeted with a heavy downpour at the end of event.
